If You’re the Father
So you think she might be pregnant.
While, legally you may have little say in your partner’s choice, your support for her at this stage may effect the outcome of the pregnancy. It may be decided to continue the pregnancy or not. Either decision will affect the rest of your life.
Friends and family can be helpful to talk to, but sometimes it helps to talk to someone who is “outside” the situation, someone who is able to just listen.

Let her know you care about what she’s feeling
She needs to talk. So take the time to listen.
- Be understanding – this is just as new to her as it is to you
- Let her know your thoughts, ideas and opinions
Perhaps you and your girlfriend do not agree on what should be done. There is time, slow down; this is an important decision.

- Do you ever find yourself enjoying time with children?
- Have you ever thought about having children or thought that you’d like to be a dad one day?
- Do you respect your own parents and hope to model your life on theirs in any way?
- Do you ever feel wistful or jealous when you see other dads playing with their children?
- Are there other people, like friends and family, who might be able to help share the responsibility with you and your partner?
- Do you like the idea of bringing a life into being that represents the love you share with your partner?
- Does an abortion clash at all with your spiritual views?
- At what stage of fetal development do you consider personhood to begin?
- If you have this child, or abort this child or adopt this child what regrets might you experience in the years to come?
- Take time to think about your future
